: On the stories front.. : Yesterday (Sunday in NZ) the Z club and FD-Kai (Batmobiles) hooked up for a bit of a cruise round some awesome roads just south of Auckland, in the coastal Thames/Corromandel area heading back up to the Auckland (yeah that will mean a lot to some of you guys!!! Go find a New Zealand map online and have a look for a place called Miranda if you're really bored). : All in all about 24 cars, Z's outnumbering the bats, with a few other cars, namely the ever present yellow Elise and an NA Supra. : Unfortunately the front tyres on my baby are stuffed so I caught a lift with a mate who's got a T28/Cams/LINK etc equipped TT 2+2 AUTO (we forgive him, coz he's got a manual and HKS triple plate waiting for conversion). DAMN can he drive, being an experienced road racer & rally/targa racer his driving skills were ahem, just a tad good :-) The roads up round Miranda are seriously challenging, mostly devoid of traffic, and have really beautiful scenery to boot.. Words cannot describe these roads (infact most country roads in New Zealand are simply amazing for driving).. Fast flowing straight sections, seriously cambered gulley tight 2nd/3rd gear corners (the kind that make everything in the car want to touch the road when you dive into them), twisty switch back hill roads, flat out coastal see for miles type jobs.. Everything and everything... : Us and my mate in his Lotus Elise (for the unitiated the yellow thing in the picture down below), and my bus partners Z separated ourselves from the main bunch and went hard along the Miranda roads.. it's really weird in the Auto, definitely not my choice of car for the twisty stuff (but great for *cough* leaving a signature *cough*). Towards the end of the run he was definitely in the groove.. coming sideways out of low-medium speed corners with huge oversteer and smoke coming off the tyres yeeaaaa baby :-) Thankfully the car is setup to understeer at high speeds so there were no nervous moments exiting corners at interesting speeds !
: Just a single pic so far but there'll be heaps more to come :
